EOC Week 3:

This particular eoc, if I remember correctly was about a movie we watched in my web portfolio calss called Sweet Cherry. One of the scenes in the movie shows the main character going out to a temp agency looking for a job. The question was what did she do right and what did she do wrong in the scene when inquiring about a job. Well first off her attire was above casual but it wasn't technically suitable for the business environment. A little too much i suppose. Next, she went in without having any idea on what she would like to do or what field she would like to go into. To add onto that she didn't really prepare for any of the questions asked by the man trying to help her, Very unprofessional and makes her look incompetent. What she did do right though was she knew what she didn't want and she was persistent. Sometimes in the business world people need you to persuade them into doing something that they have no problem doing. They just would like to gauge you tenacity. Other times they are right on the fence and just need that extra push. It's like that sometimes. All in all, she should have came better prepared, but i will borrow a bit of her persistence though when it's time for me to look for a job in my field.

Week 7 EOC:

I've always had career goals. I was never one of those people who required time and in depth thinking to figure out my life goals and where I wanted to be in five years. After my graduation i was touching up my portrait pieces from high school drawing class so that i could present them in a portfolio to the Art Institute. That was one of my main goals and i ultimately accomplished it. Along with other goals i had like to hone my craft, learn to paint more intricately, create my own characters from scratch and to be a part of and adequately contribute to a team animation production. All things that i can now cross off of my list. There are more goals i have for my future but as of now i am focused on two things; creating and outstanding demo reel and proving everyone wrong. Although they may not have verbalized it to me specifically i know that there are some people who think that i will just barely make it, that i will scrape by and end up doing some mediocre work. I have made it my main goal to surpass all their expectations of me and then achieve things they never would have envisioned for my life. Like they say, "Don't believe me, just watch." Upon completion of these goals i will use them to guarantee success in my next interviews for my career.

This link goes to an article about a group of veteran Disney animators trying to raise money to save 2D animation. Really interesting.
